Skills Required:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Take incoming queue calls
Respond to customer inquiries and requests
Document customer issues based on GPG requirements
Assist with resolution of known issues
Create/Edit KB documents with new knowledge gained from troubleshooting
Maintain backlog cases based on GPG requirements
Escalate issues that are not resolvable at Grade 6 level to Grade 7 technician
Professional Skills:
Maintain and increase product knowledge, directly related to the product being supported
Maintain and increase technical knowledge, indirectly related to the product being supported
Be able to create professional documents that can be viewed by Symantec customers
Be able to communicate effectively with customers to ensure a mutually agreeable outcome for both the company and the customer.
Be able to communicate effectively with peers to ensure that technical issues are addressed in a timely manner
Be able to work comfortably in a fast paced environment

Problem solving skills:
The ability to support applications and advanced utilities that require familiarity with system configuration and product usage.
The ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to customers.

Hardware/software skills:
Knowledge of network interface cards and the ability to manipulate and optimize the drivers that work with that hardware.
Knowledge of network infrastructure including hubs, routers, and switches
Knowledge of firewalls and Symantec port requirements
Knowledge of hard disk drives, including drive geometry and RAID arrays
Knowledge of File Systems and compatibility with Symantec products
Knowledge of Windows operating systems from Windows 2000“ Windows Server 2008
Knowledge of Active Directory
Knowledge of PXE, WDS, and RIS
